Donate Money to Celiac Research

The National Institutes for Health issued a Request for Application seeking research funding to examine celiac disease prevalence in the United States. If research demonstrates that celiac disease occurs more frequently domestically than commonly believed, physicians may diagnose it sooner and more frequently.

The timeline for symptom recognition to diagnosis has improved significantly since 1980, declining from 14.1 years to 4.3 years. However, hundreds or potentially millions remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as liver, heart, or kidney failure—conditions actually caused by celiac disease. Even 4.3 years can permit irreversible organ damage.

The medical community requires greater awareness to encourage earlier testing when symptoms appear. Private donations supplement research grants, as grants cover only partial research costs.

Donate Blood in Jackie's Name

During her bleeding episodes, Jackie required blood transfusions. She repeatedly urged: "Give blood. Donate blood—many people need it."
